Leach Wallace recently completed the mechanical and electrical engineering design for the new University of Maryland Medical System Capital Region Medical Center. This facility will replace the existing Prince George’s Hospital Center in Prince George’s County, Maryland. This University of Maryland Medical System project includes the construction of a new 600,000 square foot Hospital and a pre-manufactured Central Utility Plant. In addition, a 60,000 square foot, 3 story Ambulatory Care Center will sit adjacent to the hospital. The new Hospital, Emergency Department, and two-level Cancer Center housed in the Ambulatory Care Center will provide state of the art medical care to Prince George’s County residents. The project is designed to achieve LEED certification.
