Leach Wallace was selected to provide commissioning services for the new Outpatient Pavilion at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Designed as an outpatient only facility, it is located at 240 East Ontario and 259 East Erie streets Chicago, Illinois. The new building, while a separate structure, is physically and operationally integrated with the Galter and Feinberg Pavilions and other buildings on campus. The Outpatient Care Pavilion has a total gross square footage of approximately 1,000,000 sf and is a 25 story building. The Outpatient Care Pavilion is a highly functional, state of the art building including infrastructures, MEP systems, technology and security with a goal of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.
The commissioning scope includes the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems. The mechanical systems include, the chilled water plant, condenser water system, large custom air handling units, isolation and exhaust fans, and the building automation system. The electrical system includes emergency generators, substations, switchgears, normal and emergency power distribution. Plumbing includes domestic hot water heaters, booster pumps, sump pumps, medical gas, and vacuum pumps.
