Meritus Medical Center RIC Unit, Covid-19 Response, Hagerstown, MD
As part of the rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meritus Regional Medical Center proceeded with plans to establish a regional infectious containment unit on their campus in Hagerstown, MD. Prior to major action by many other health facilities, Meritus decided to engage our design and construction teams to work as quickly as possible on the project. Completed July 31, 2020 in just 120 days, Meritus Health’s permanent Regional Medical Center expansion increases the region’s capacity to support COVID-19 patients. The 12,560 SF, single story addition to the existing hospital created an acute care, med/surg patient room program with 20 Patient Rooms, Entrance and Exit Ante Rooms, Respiratory Therapy space and the typical Support Spaces required for a med/surg floor. Each Patient Room and the Entrance/Exit Ante Rooms are equipped with room pressure monitors to maintain pressure requirements when needed.
