Leach Wallace Associates, Inc. was commissioned to provide professional mechanical and electrical engineering services for the King Hall Galley Renovation at the U.S. Naval Academy. This was a design/build project that included the renovation of 71,710 SF of commercial kitchen space. Work included the complete construction of an institutional kitchen to serve the 4,500 students and faculty at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Prior to demolition, a temporary kitchen and dining area was constructed on site. The temporary kitchen allowed for the campus to function as normal while the King Hall Galley was completely gutted and renovated. Also included in this project was a new backup generator, an additional overhead door for the loading dock, a new Food Service Pulping System and a new domestic water system. Leach Wallace designed the plumbing systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems for both the temporary kitchen and dining area and the renovated space for the King Hall Galley. The project was designed to the Silver LEED® standards.
