Johns Hopkins Medicine - Howard County General Hospital
Adult/Pediatric ED & Inpatient Psychiatric Unit
Our team provided the mechanical and electrical design services for a three story, 35,300 square foot addition for Johns Hopkins Medicine Howard County General Hospital. The space provided 5,700 square feet for Support Space on the ground floor, 15,900 square feet for an expanded Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department on the first floor, and 13,700 square feet for an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit on the second floor of the hospital. Additionally, 21,000 square feet of space was renovated on the first floor of the hospital for an expanded Emergency Department and additional medical/surgical beds. The new construction required the existing chilled water plant to be expanded and a new 500 ton, electric centrifugal chiller was added in the North Building mechanical room. New primary chilled water and condenser water pumps were provided to support the new chiller as was a new, 500 ton, induced draft, cross-flow cooling tower. A new 45,000 cfm, custom fabricated air handling unit was designed to provide conditioned air to the new building addition.
