WSP will be featured in the June 17 issue of ENR MidAtlantic along with the top-ranked design firms in the region—which includes Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C. and West Virginia. The results of that survey are based on 2018 revenue. The survey will feature more than 100 firms.
WSP ranked No. 13 in last year’s ranking with revenue of $127.89 million. On the national Top 500 Design Firm rankings WSP is No. 8 with $1.8 billion in revenue, up from No. 12 with $1.4 billion last year.
The firm’s acquisition of Louis Berger is paying off in the MidAtlantic region as it has seen a 43% increase in regional revenue from 2017 to 2018. The firm says the 2018 acquisition was done in part to increase work in the federal and defense sectors.
WSP has 1,200 people in 20 offices across the MidAtlantic region, where it focuses on the building, transportation, energy, water and environment sectors.
WSP has also just announced plans to be carbon neutral across its U.S. operations, including all offices and employee business travel, in 2019.
The firm recently deployed a three-year strategic plan to expand its offerings, including power generation and renewables power delivery. The firm's goal is to become the "go-to source to address innovations in infrastructure" and it also aims to become "a top-ranked full service water provider." WSP has also enhanced its focus on program management and construction management.
In 2018, WSP invested more than a half million dollars to support community organizations such as the March of Dimes, the ACE Mentoring Program, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and educational initiatives, including STEM.
