Patient Tower Expansion & Renovation, Carolinas Medical Center - Pineville


The expansion of the Carolinas Medical Center- Pineville includes a new six story tower constructed on the west side of the existing hospital, a single story expansion to the existing labor and delivery suite, and expansions to surgery and post anesthesia care unit (PACU). Total new construction is estimated at 285,000 SF, with an additional 50,000 SF of renovated area.

The new tower will consist of three floors of medical/surgical inpatient units, a new intensive care unit, new peri-operative suite with pre-op, PACU, step down recovery spaces, and a variety of patient and administrative support space. The first floor of the tower will house the new dietary services, including a new kitchen and cafeteria. The surgical suite will also be expanded via a single story addition to house six new operating rooms. New labor and delivery rooms and nursery units (NICU and well-baby units) are also included in the new construction.
